Legacy Internship Program

When I was a young photographer I was infinitely blessed to have other pros pour love and wisdom into me.   It shaped my career in was I will never be able to express.   So when we came to place as a company to offer the same opportunities to aspiring young artists and communicators we had to run with it!   Over the years this program has grown and thrived.   Former interns can be found working for us,  in a number of breed associations, magazines, and making a difference in agriculture every day!

TESTIMONIALS

"When I went to college and started as an intern with Legacy I didn’t know I would be gaining a second family. I have learned an insane amount from every single talented person that is a part of this team. One thing I learned for sure is that every person plays an important role, even the pan puller".

 Jackie Heinrich, Nebraska

"While I didn’t follow the typical intern path, working for Legacy has completely changed my life! You and Charles have helped and continue to help shape me into a more confident photographer. Every single show teaches me something new and challenges me to BE BETTER! Where before I was beyond nervous to step into that show ring, I can now grab that camera and know in my heart that I have the ability to do something BADASS. I remember being a freshie in the OSU ag communications department surrounded by HUGE TALENT like Cordelle and JD. I set a goal right then and there that one day I wanted to learn from the best. God blessed me with my first Legacy opportunity a few years ago and I’m beyond grateful."

Stanley Gaffrey, Delaware

"I started as an intern for Legacy during college knowing very little about photographing livestock. In just a few short months I could see crazy growth in myself as a photographer thanks to the amazing Legacy team. Every single person on our team has become like family to me and taught me so much! Heidi and Charles took a chance on me and I am forever grateful. Interning for Legacy Livestock was one of the greatest decisions I ever made!"

Hailey Walmsley, Nebraska

"100% best life choice ever. This family not only sharpens your photography but pushes you to be a better human. Forever thankful for the leap of faith and every single one of you."

Megan Berg, Colorado

"Working for Legacy have given me so much confidence not only as a photographer but as a person. I have gained a whole new set of friends that have turned into family. Interning for Legacy has opened so many doors for me and I am forever grateful for that. Heidi and Charles are two of the most amazing people you will ever meet and deciding to apply for the internship 3 years ago was the best decision I ever made!"

 Shelby Saul, Oklahoma

"This past year working with Legacy Livestock Imaging has been an indescribable experience. I have been able to work in the hog ring with some extraordinary talent and it’s been a dream. The people that surround you while working with Legacy are second to none and I had no idea what I would gain by joining this team. That opportunity last year at OYE ended up giving me some of the best friends and colleagues I could ever ask for. Heidi and Charles are incredible bosses, great friends to me and even better people. They truly want the best for their team and will do anything in their power to help along the journey to success. I have been blessed with lifelong friends while working with Legacy and can’t wait to see where the future takes this group. We are just a bunch of livestock kids who had a passion for photography and turned it into something more. It is one of my greatest joys to capture the livelihood of stockshow kids and I’m proud to do it with this Legacy family."

 Cade Childers, Oklahoma

"Interning with Legacy was one of the best choices I ever made for both my professional career and personal life. Not only do you get to learn from some of the best and brightest in the photography and and livestock industries, Heidi and Charles help you develop your skills to make sure you are being the best you can be in and out of the ring. They truly care about pushing you to your full potential while creating a fun and inviting environment to learn in!"

Michelle Helm, Oklahoma

"Everyone needs a great mentor, and Heidi and Charles are two of the best! My photography skills have improved dramatically since my first time in the ring with a camera, and I can’t wait to see how my skills will continue to progress. That, and I’m so much more confident not only as a person, but as a photographer! Working for Legacy has allowed me to further cultivate my love for the livestock industry; it’s so cool to see juniors and their families love their livestock like I did when I was showing. The best part is, I’ve truly found a second family and lifelong friends on the Legacy staff."

  Sydnee Shive, Kansas

"Legacy is invested in more than just the photo. Heidi Fulton Anderson and Charles Anderson are people builders. They create such a fun, light-hearted environment that learning how to become a well rounded photographer and editor just happens. The passion for every kid or animal that steps in front of their lens is second to NONE."

Sydnee Gerken, Oklahoma

"I grew up showing livestock and always thought about how I would stay involved once I was done. In college I picked up an interest in livestock photography and decided to apply for an internship with Legacy Livestock. I figured it was a long shot but applied anyway and it’s truly one of the best decisions I could have made. Having the ability to capture memories families will be able to hold onto years after their ribbons and banners have tarnished is one of the coolest things to get to be apart of. But my favorite part of the Legacy team is the true family atmosphere it gives you. Heidi and Charles give you the guidance and knowledge of great mentors with the support and encouragement of great friends. I’ve grown so much as a photographer and as a person since working with Legacy and I attribute that to Heidi and Charles and the truly great people they choose to surround you with."

Taylor Conley,  Pennsylvania

"Go to church you never know what life will bring you. It brought me a second family and is allowing me to still be around the livestock industry.(Some might not know but Heidi’s brother is my pastor.) Being a part of legacy is more than just taking pictures. It is a passion we all have for the youth we get to be around and capture their memories. Our team grows as a family and encourages everyone to be the best they can."

Haven Johnson, Kansas

"Legacy Livestock’s legacy itself isn’t just based on their incredible pictures, but it is more so built on their care, love, and passion for the industry and the people within it. Heidi and Charles not only shape us into some of the best photographers in the industry, but they help shape us into even better people. The day I got the call I was going to be an intern was a day I look back and am grateful for. I encourage anyone and everyone to apply to get the chance to work with Charles and Heidi and as well as the rest of the talented staff. If you are like me, you don’t get to work with them as often as you want and it is a shame because you have the time of your life learning important skills to help capture the moments that others will cherish for a lifetime. The best second family a kid could ask for!"

 Walker McDermott, Iowa

"All I have to say is Heidi & Charles are like my second parents. Working with legacy isn’t like having a boss, it’s making a family, learning from the best, and simply, learning how to be the best person you can be! My photography skills wouldn’t be half of what they are without Heidi & Charles guidance & I will forever be in debt to them both for that! And in the end you create the best long lasting friendships and a family type atmosphere that is more than worth it!"

Khyleigh North, Indiana

"Interning with Legacy was the best thing to happen to me and happened at the right time in my college career. I love that I have the best mentors in the industry, but even more I love the second family I have gained through all of the legacy staff. Both Heidi and Charles want to see you be successful. They take the extra time to teach you proper way to photography livestock, but also how to tell a story while doing it. I owe it to them both because I now have more confidence in my photography skills. Being involved with legacy has allowed me to be involved in the show industry but it as also allowed me to build some of the best friends along the way. I HIGHLY recommend interning with Legacy if you get the chance."

Kendall Harshman, Maryland

" When I caught a flight to intern with Legacy at OYE, I was a girl who loved showing cows and every once in awhile messed around with a camera. At this point, I was also aging out of showing at junior events and wondering how I was going to smoothly transition from the show halter to the sidelines. My internship opened my eyes to livestock photography and how much I truly enjoy it. During my time at Legacy, I’ve watched my passion for showing and my creative mind combine. I’m a true story of a photographer who gets an adrenaline rush from an EPIC profile or 3/4 shot. Now, I don’t have to worry about always being stuck on the sidelines of a show instead I get to watch the show from behind my camera while working for Legacy. Beyond that, I’ve always seen Heidi and Charles as another set of parents and the rest of the staff as another family. And Heidi and Charles have always seen all staff members as their own children. They invest in us and they invest in the backbone of the livestock industry by teaching us the importance of telling each individual’s story in the best way that we can. Interning with Legacy truly helped solidify my career path while also gaining so many relationships and mentors!"

Sierra Day, Illinois

" When Heidi and Charles gave this small town Washington girl a chance, I truly did not know what I was in for. I have met and been mentored by some of the best, most talented people in the industry, and for that I am forever thankful. Heidi and Charles have both poured into me as a photographer, but also as a person. They not only want you succeed behind the camera, but also in life. They are genuinely second to none and I couldn't ask for better mentors, who have turned into my family. The passion that they have for an industry that is so close to my heart is simply astonishing, and I can easily say that I would not be the same person I am today without the experience I have had through Legacy."

Kelsey Vejraska, Washington

"Growing up in Kansas I was familiar with Legacy and Heidi and Charles though the show ring and seeing the images they took at our state fair and junior livestock show. As a sophomore in college I decided to pick photography back up again after doing it for many years in 4-H. I had always dreamt of interning or working with Heidi and Charles and getting to even have a quarter of the knowledge they have. Interning and working with them have given me amazing memories, stories and teammates who've turned into not just friends, but family. Working with the best in the industry has challenged me to become better and to learn something new everyday. Heidi and Charles are not just great bosses, but they are parents when we're all on the road away from our own. They challenge us, put us in places we'd never think to be (like me ending up in the hog ring and loving it). I'll eternally be grateful for Heidi and Charles giving me a chance, making my dreams come true, giving me knowledge to become a confident photographer, allowing me to work with the best in the industry and giving me lifetime friends and memories."

Andrea Vandever-Moore, Kansas

"I was a girl who just bought a decent camera and applied because a friend told me too. Never did I think I would gain another family and a way to stay involved in the livestock industry after college. I have learned something from each and everyone on this team. Heidi and Charles are more like the 2nd parents you never knew you were missing. They want to see you do your best and will push you to get there even if you don’t believe in yourself. Interning with Legacy has changed my life forever."

Caitlin Stehr, Oklahoma

"I had been traveling to shows literally since I was a baby. As I grew older and started to show there was one person that always could take my “game face” away for a split second and make me smile and that was Heidi. Years continued to pass and I always admired and looked up to Heidi and I used to tell my dad I want to be just like her. I watched every move she made. When the world felt like it was crashing down and I was stuck with online classes I was so upset. A week later, Heidi and Charles posted about internships. My heart lit up and I immediately messaged Heidi. I was scared that I wouldn’t be good enough but I have learned more during that internship than I did in my 12 years of school. The internship truly teaches you to be responsible, to be teachable, to take new chances, and gives you a second family to be apart of."
